CFSC Program Information
Our staff of highly qualified professionals and volunteers make it their goal to not just 'teach' the elements of ice skating, but to go that extra step in encouraging each and every participant to enjoy the learning process.

"Snowplow Sam"
Tot program is for skaters 3-5 years old.  Earn the three "Snowplow Sam" badges while becoming acquainted with the ice in a recreational environment.

"Basic 1"
Introduces the beginning skaters to the sport with forward glides, swizzles and snowplow stops.

"Basic 2"
Advances the beginning skater with backward glides, one foot glides, backward swizzles and two foot turns.

"Basic 3"
Encompasses forward stroking, one foot swizzles, backward one foot glides and two foot spins.


"Basic 4"
Emphasizes more advanced edges on a circle, forward crossovers, three turns and backward stops.

Junior (JR.) Club - Basic Skills Program

"Basic 5"
Backward Skating, including edges and crossovers are the focus along with Tstops and one foot spins.

"Basic 6"
Advanced skaters learn to turn backwards to forward, complete advanced three turns, hockey stops, spirals, bunny hops and lunges.

"Basic 7 & 8"
this is usually for the more proficient skater where the emphasis is on Mohawks, beginning technique on jumps and combining various elements for a more advanced sense of balance, control and coordination.

Senior (SR.) Club - Freestyle / Moves Skating

"Free Skate 1-6"
For the skaters in basic skills classes whom have advanced to the top level and wish to pursue basic techniques for the jumps, spins, stroking and stops.  Six "Free Skate" USFSA Badges are available and the lessons are customized according to it's participants.

Skaters at the Senior Club level have an option to skate two nights per week during the Senior Club Ice Times with a Coach/Lesson scheduled during the ice time. The first 15min. of the scheduled time (usually an hour or longer) is designated for Moves in the Field (MIF) Skating. The remainder of the scheduled ice time is open to Freestyle or (MIF) Skating

Chippewa Figure Skating Club
is a member of the USFSA


USFSA stands for the United States Figure Skating Association.  It is the governing body of amateur figure skating in the United States.

The USFSA makes the rules of the sport of figure skating on ice.  The USFSA is a member of the ISU (International Skating Union), a class “A” member of the United States Olympic Committee and an allied member of the Amateur Athletic Union (AAU).  The USFSA administers its own rules so as to ensure the eligibility of qualified United States skaters and officials to participate in international skating events. The USFSA sponsors competitions on every level as an incentive to train, develop, improve proficiency, and to select skaters to represent the United States in World and Olympic competitions.

As a member of the Chippewa Figure Skating Club you pay fees and are a member of the United States Figure Skating Association.

All skaters in the Club are eligible to test and compete.  Contact you child’s private lesson coach if you are interested or have any questions.  (If your child does not have a private lesson coach, contact any board member.)
