Show Costume Use Policy

1.  Costumes will be inventoried and the inventory will be kept with the Costume Committee Chair who will be responsible for keeping it accurate and up to date.

2.  No one will take costumes or parts of costumes out of the costume room without the permission of the costume chair.

3.  No one will rummage through costumes.

4.  Costumes may be rented to individuals or other clubs with board approval.

5.  Club members may come to the Board to request the use of a costume or costumes for a one-time event with the member having the responsibility to return the costume in good condition or pay for the damages.  A refundable deposit will be required.

6.  Basic costumes are costumes that are likely to be used again and are not for sale.

7.  Specialty costumes are costumes that are not likely to be used again in the near future and can be made available for purchase.  The costume committee will determine prices.  Age of the costume, cost to make the costume and labor will be considered when determining the price.

8.  Anyone interested purchasing a costume should contact the Chair of the Costume Committee.  This person's name and phone number should be easily seen in the handbook.

9. There will be a costume sale in the fall to sell specialty costumes.

10.  The Club will not take responsibility for, or keep track of, who is using a purchased costume for a program.  Pros and skaters will need to communicate to each other.

11.  Unsold and unwanted costumes will be given to Goodwill or the Salvation Army on a periodic basis.

General Show Guidelines

1.  The CFSC ice show is provided for the enjoyment of the skaters, to showcase the skating abilities of CFSC skaters, and to provide entertainment for the Chippewa Falls community.  It is also a fundraiser for the Chippewa Figure Skating Club.

2.  Skaters must have no outstanding ice Club bills, and have turned in a show contract by the designated date.

3.  Skate With Us (SWU) skaters will skate in one group number plus the Closing.  Skaters in the Junior Club will skate in one group number plus the Opening and Closing.  Skaters in the Senior Club will skate in two group numbers plus Closing and Opening.

4.  Skaters in the Hockey number must be registered in September as a senior club skater, be in the 9th grade or higher, must attend half or more of their scheduled lessons during the year and get board approval.

5.  Skaters will be grouped primarily by ability level.

6.  All Club families are expected to participate in ticket sales, sponsor solicitation, and work during the show and participate on at least 1 committee for the Ice Show.

7.  Exception to the above guidelines will be considered by the Board in collaboration with the Show Chair or Co-Chairs.

Solo Try-out information

Guidelines for Selection of Annual Ice Show Solo, and Solo Spot.

1.  Selection of solo, and solo spot, should reflect the uniqueness of the CFSC regarding the number of skaters at the various skating levels.

2.  Two solos will be skated along with three solo spots unless there are more than 2 graduating senior skaters during that particular year.  Then there will be only solo spots available.

3.  To earn solos, or solo spots, skaters must be in at least their second full year with the CFSC and have skated during the school year (October-April).

4.  Skaters chosen for a solo, solo spot, or feature will be eligible to skate try-outs on alternate years.

5.  To earn a solo, or solo spot, skaters must have skated in the previous year's show.

6.  Determination of solos, solo spots, and features will be based on skating performance at try-outs and if their ice show contract has been signed and turned in by the designated date.

7.  Judging at try-outs will be done by a minimum of three persons with knowledge of figure skating.

8.  Judges will independently rank skaters according to performance: individual rankings will be given to the designated Club officers who will tally the results and post the skaters receiving the highest ranking.

9.  Skaters who are seniors in high school shall be awarded a senior solo if they have completed all other requirements.

Procedure for Selection of Annual Ice Show Solo/Solo Spots/Feature Skaters

1.  Try-out judges will be obtained for a try-out date.

2.  The try-out date will be the Crystal Ice Show.

3.  Skaters who wish to try-out for solo/solo spots/features must complete the try-out application.  The form must be turned into the Crystal Ice Exhibition chair and returned by the designated date.

4.  At the try-outs, the judges will be directed to rank skaters in order by category using the form provided to rate both technical skating skill and artistic presentation.

5.  The two highest ranking skaters within the highest level category will be granted the 2 solos.  The next three skaters will be granted solo spots.

6.  The designated Club member will post the names of the skaters earning the solos, solo spots, and features.  If possible, results will be posted immediately after judge's scores have been tallied and ranking determined.

Annual Ice Show and Rehearsal Guidelines

1.  Parents of elementary-age and younger skaters are expected to stay at the rink for the Show run-through on Thursday and the dress rehearsal on Friday prior to the Show.  It is the skater's responsibility to be on time for her/his number.

2.  No eating will be permitted when skaters are in costume.

3.  No food or drink is allowed in the locker rooms (exception: bottled water)

4.  Skaters are to stay quiet in the locker rooms during the Show.

5.  If you leave the locker rooms during intermission, your costumes must be fully covered.

6.  Please respect your locker room monitor(s), and all other skaters, on and off the ice.

7.  Skaters and/or their parents must notify, in writing, conflicts with show number practices to the show number coach.

8.  More than two missed practices for a show number will be reason to be cut from that number.  This includes show run through and dress rehearsal.
